Description:Welcome to 8th grade US history. Students will investigate learning through the integrated theme of justice, equality, freedom and responsibility. In social studies students will study important events of United States history, from the birth of our nation to The Civil War.
Goals:
Prepare you for high school

Requirements:Come to class every day prepared. See supplies list
Be in your seat ready to learn and be engaged when the bell rings
Homework: Typically assigned Mon-Thurs. and some Fridays. Most of the time the assignment is started in class and finished at home. More time will be spent on projects.
Grading policy
• Small assignments will have: check plus=Above expectations
• Check= Good 80% - full credit
• Check minus=Fair, or missing requirements. 70%
• Inc=sloppy, incomplete. 60% credit or redo for 70% with permission.
• Tests, quizzes, projects, etc are graded A-F, and will be assigned point values.
Class Participation Means: discussions, group work, oral presentations, debates, skits, and behavior.
Absent? YOU are responsible to make up missed assignments, tests, quizzes etc. due to illness. Check the assignment binder, and online, check in with a class buddy, and then schedule a time with me. You are responsible to make up tests, and or quizzes within one week upon your return.

- Daily assignments are always due the next day unless stated otherwise.
- Late work will not be accepted on daily assignments. Exception: a note from a parent or guardian explaining the unusual circumstance. Sports is not an unusual circumstance!
- Large assignments/projects will be 10% down, one full letter grade lower, for each day late.
